A public meeting to present and receive comment on the proposed public access plan for the Fox Lake Sanctuary.

Meeting Date: Tuesday, September 21, 2010
Meeting Location: Enchanted Forest Sanctuary 444 Columbia Blvd., Titusville FL 32780
Meeting Time: 5-7 p.m.

The purpose of this meeting is to review lands under consideration for public acquisition and management by the Brevard County Environmentally Endangered Lands Program.

Any questions regarding this meeting should be directed to Laura Clark, EEL Program at 321.255.4466 or laura.clark@brevardparks.com

If a person desires to appeal any decision made by this board, agency or commission with respect to any matter considered at this meeting or hearing, such a person will need a record of this proceeding and that, for such purposes, such person may need to ensure that a verbatim record of this proceeding is made, at his/her own expense, which record includes testimony and evidence upon which any such appeal is to be based.

Saturday, 18 September, 2010 - CARING FOR OUR OCULINA REEF at the Barrier Island Center

Join Master Scuba Instructor, Joe Bartoszek to learn about the unique deep water coral reef system found along the edge of the continental shelf from Cape Canaveral to Fort Pierce and nowhere else on earth! These reefs are comprised of a single species of coral and host a diversity of fishes and invertebrates, but due to extensive fishery damage they are now designated an 'Area of Concern'.

There is no cost to attend.

And it's also National Public Lands Day and National Estuary Day!! As trash falls from our hands and travels from land to sea and around the world leaving no shoreline or waterway untouched the time has come to turn the tide on marine debris. You can assist the Ocean Conservancy with their mission to care for the health of the world's ocean by recording and removing trash from our beaches and islands of the lagoon.

Please wear water shoes, sunscreen and bring your water bottle, a snack and insect repellant.
